We believe every child deserves to feel understood.

At Play & Thrive, we believe every child deserves to feel understood, valued and supported to thrive in their own unique way.

We are a mobile paediatric occupational therapy service that brings therapy into the places where children learn, play and participate most naturally. By working within your child’s everyday environments, we can build meaningful skills that translate into daily life.

Our practice is grounded in a neuroaffirming, strengths-based approach. We recognise that every child experiences the world differently, and we celebrate those differences. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, we tailor therapy to each child’s unique strengths, interests, goals and support needs.

We know that parents and caregivers are the experts on their own children. That’s why we work in partnership with families, listening, collaborating and creating practical strategies that support meaningful participation at home, school and in the community.

Above all, we believe therapy should be engaging, purposeful and built on genuine connection. By fostering trusting relationships and focusing on what matters most to each child and family, we aim to help children build confidence, develop new skills and thrive as themselves.

Meet Ali

As both an Occupational Therapist with over 13 years of experience and someone with lived experience of neurodiversity, I know there isn’t one “right” way for a brain to work. I believe every child deserves to grow up knowing that their differences aren’t flaws to be fixed - they’re simply part of what makes them unique.

My approach to therapy is flexible, child-led and built on genuine connection. Rather than expecting children to fit into therapy, I adapt therapy to fit the child. By following each child’s interests, strengths and motivations, I create meaningful opportunities to develop skills in ways that are engaging, playful and purposeful.

One of the greatest privileges of my job is partnering with families. I believe parents and caregivers know their children best, and I love working together to develop practical strategies that fit naturally into everyday life and empower families long after therapy sessions have finished.

Above all, I want every child who we meet feeling understood, capable and proud of who they are. Because when children feel safe to be themselves, they’re free to learn, grow and truly thrive.

Meet Alyssa

As a paediatric Occupational Therapist, I am passionate about supporting children and their families to thrive in their everyday lives. Building strong, trusting relationships with both children and their caregivers is at the heart of my practice, as I believe meaningful progress happens when families feel understood, supported, and empowered.

I take a personalised and holistic approach to therapy, ensuring to be neuroaffirming, recognising that every child is unique and that all aspects of a child’s life are interconnected. I have a particular interest in exploring areas such as sensory preferences, feeding, toileting, play skills, emotional regulation, and daily routines to understand how they influence a child’s participation and wellbeing.

My goal is to work collaboratively with families to develop practical, strengths-based strategies that support children to build confidence, independence, and success in the activities that matter most to them.

Whether your child has a diagnosis, is waiting for an assessment, or you’re simply noticing that everyday activities are becoming challenging, we’re here to help.

Our goal is to empower children to thrive in ways that are meaningful to them while supporting families with practical, compassionate strategies that can be used at home, school and in the community.
